Sleaze Box Holocaust From Hell
The News - Latest News
Written by Jay Creepy
Tuesday, 26 August 2014

Coming out like a low budget don't care attitude version of Troma, welcome to The Sleaze Box (Icon Film Studios). With unheard of titles distributed such as Amerikan Holokaust, Make Them Die Sleazy and Burglar From Hell, they mix cheap handheld, nudity and gore in each release. (Like a variation of Bill Zebub but with less rape fantasy material). Read More...

Tuesday, 26 August 2014

In October Annabelle arrives, as a spin-off story based around the creepy doll in The Conjuring. John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia -- a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia's delight with Annabelle doesn't last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now... Annabelle. Read More...

What Has Buttgereit Been Up To?
The News - Latest News
Written by Jay Creepy
Wednesday, 16 July 2014

Jorg Buttgereit, the mastermind behind the tragic horror love stories Nekromantik and Nekromantik 2, the man behind the eerie and atmospheric serial killer movie Schramm, seemed to vanish from horror movies altogether. Controversy can be a good thing or a bad thing. Funding has always had Buttgereit spread his work out thinly. So for a few years after Schramm, he popped up directing an episode of Lexx and had some bits and pieces TV work here and there as well.

However, aside from some acting roles, this infamous gore community director seems set for a comeback. He's been putting out short films like Sexmonster, Green Frankenstein, and Video Nasty, to small cult audiences. The comeback in question is his involvement in an anthology called German Angst (sharing duties with two other directors). Read More...

Code Red DVD on Severed Cinema

Code Red are the label that sellers seem to command lots of money for their DVDs on Ebay. Maybe because their releases are a little special sometimes. For instance If He Hollers, Let Him Go from 1968. The tale of James Lake, an escaped convict caught up in prejudices as he looks for the man who set him up. Also look out for Sinner's Blood , from 1969, about two sisters mixed up with lesbian cousins, horny hardware store men, and bikers. Read More...

Arrow Video News on Severed Cinema

Arrow in the UK are flying high, they don't seem to put a foot wrong at all these days. Recently we've seen them release the classic latex balloon flick The Beast Within (see my review here in which I lamented the lack of good releases for this), The Complete Dr. Phibes collection and Vincent Price staple diets Theatre of Blood and The Pit & the Pendulum. All of these have the standard Arrow extras; The Beast Within has a making of documentary and a commentary by the director, The Pit & the Pendulum has commentaries, etcetera, and The Complete Dr. Phibes is rich with material including an interview with Price's daughter, a historian's rambling overview, two commentaries, but best of all is a one hundred page booklet. Whoo hoo! (Releases are DVD and Blu-Ray and sometimes steelbox.) Read More...

Megafoot is Stomping Soon!
The News - Latest News

Monday, 02 June 2014

I had to laugh at this, what an awesome write up. To quote a cool Facebook post about the upcoming Megafoot :MEGAFOOT is NOT a superhero film. MEGAFOOT doesn't need super-powers. He wouldn't make a particularly good superhero anyway - there's nothing heroic about him. Can you "heroically disembowel" someone? Plus, he doesn't look good in spandex.” Also on the Facebook page is stated: “We're currently building the practical FX MEGAFOOT beast - once this has been completed we will start to shoot the demo footage which will hopefully bring in the budget we need for the feature.” Read More...

Atom Bombs and Aliens!
The News - Latest News
Written by Jay Creepy
Tuesday, 20 May 2014

There's a nifty little movie being put together about J. Robert Oppenheimer the so called 'father' of atomic bombs. Okay, so what's that got to do with Severed Cinema and the horror community? Well not so much a horror based article but an interesting science fiction idea that has J. Robert Oppenheimer, Albert Einstein and electrical technician Nikola Tesla, running into problems whilst creating the atomic bomb so they basically look to contact extra-terrestrials who provided the technology. Set in 1937 and to star Bill Oberst Jr. as Oppenheimer. Apparently the production team have also found their Einstein but as of now haven't revealed who yet. Read More...
