Arrow Video News on Severed Cinema

Arrow in the UK are flying high, they don't seem to put a foot wrong at all these days. Recently we've seen them release the classic latex balloon flick The Beast Within (see my review here in which I lamented the lack of good releases for this), The Complete Dr. Phibes collection and Vincent Price staple diets Theatre of Blood and The Pit & the Pendulum. All of these have the standard Arrow extras; The Beast Within has a making of documentary and a commentary by the director, The Pit & the Pendulum has commentaries, etcetera, and The Complete Dr. Phibes is rich with material including an interview with Price's daughter, a historian's rambling overview, two commentaries, but best of all is a one hundred page booklet. Whoo hoo! (Releases are DVD and Blu-Ray and sometimes steelbox.) Read More...

Megafoot is Stomping Soon!

I had to laugh at this, what an awesome write up. To quote a cool Facebook post about the upcoming Megafoot :MEGAFOOT is NOT a superhero film. MEGAFOOT doesn't need super-powers. He wouldn't make a particularly good superhero anyway - there's nothing heroic about him. Can you "heroically disembowel" someone? Plus, he doesn't look good in spandex.” Also on the Facebook page is stated: “We're currently building the practical FX MEGAFOOT beast - once this has been completed we will start to shoot the demo footage which will hopefully bring in the budget we need for the feature.” Read More...

Atom Bombs and Aliens!
The News - Latest News

Tuesday, 20 May 2014

There's a nifty little movie being put together about J. Robert Oppenheimer the so called 'father' of atomic bombs. Okay, so what's that got to do with Severed Cinema and the horror community? Well not so much a horror based article but an interesting science fiction idea that has J. Robert Oppenheimer, Albert Einstein and electrical technician Nikola Tesla, running into problems whilst creating the atomic bomb so they basically look to contact extra-terrestrials who provided the technology. Set in 1937 and to star Bill Oberst Jr. as Oppenheimer. Apparently the production team have also found their Einstein but as of now haven't revealed who yet. Read More...

Ahh, remember the days of Deep Red, In the Flesh, and tons of small print splatter coated zines popping out worldwide? Before the days of the internet I reckon everyone slammed into their local horror shops or greedily lapped up whatever popped through the letter box. Mags that told you about the tiny films as well, those lovingly crafted works of art done for nothing but to give back to the community.

Well here's Monstrosity, a magazine that's made of paper devoted to the indie horror scene. Read More...

Thursday, 20 March 2014
They arrive April 10th (in the UK) and April 25th (USA) to be exact. Hammer Horror is in full flow these days and here's the latest under their umbrella. The Quiet Ones looks like a nice return to old school chillers, like The Awakening and The Conjuring hit upon recently. The plot is as follows: The Quiet Ones (inspired by true events) tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Sunday, 09 March 2014

Just when you thought it was safe from rampaging infected dead people, along comes Night of Something Strange, a cautionary tale of how unprotected sex can transform you into a blood spitting living dead girl or boy. “Teenage friends out for beach week get unexpectedly detoured to a creepy motel where a deadly STD virus now runs rampant, turning those infected into the living dead.” God forbid in the horror genre if you happen to be a teen looking for sex eh? If it isn't mask wearing maniacs or religious head cases coming after you, it's freaking infections now! Read More...

Ingression Indiegogo Campaign on Severed Cinema

Andrey Iskanov needs your help with underground horror epic IngressionIngression has already won multiple European awards, but it is not complete.  Andrey Iskanov did not have the funds to create his true vision.  We need financing so that the film can be re-mastered and the quality improved, and to film additional scenes of sex and violence mayhem.  We also need to pay for a composer.  The actors need to be paid.  Special effects materials need to be created. We are only asking for a modest amount, as Andrey has proven he can do so much with so little.  This is a special film, it is unique, like anything Andrey creates, it is his dark masterpiece, please help us get funding for the world's most extreme and uncompromising artist, Andrey Iskanov. Hi-8 Doesn't Like CGI!
The News - Latest News
Written by Jay Creepy
Monday, 10 February 2014

"Hi-8" doesn't like CGI.  That's the truth.  New movie "Hi-8" is all CGI free and very bloody.  It's another one of those VHS style things, where various talents get together and make an anthology movie.  The rules were, no green screen and all practical effects.  It's the brainchild of producer Brad Sykes ("Camp Blood"), who roped in a few low budget/indie directors for the project, including Marcus Koch, Todd Sheets, and Donald Farmer.  Read More...
