Arrow Video News on Severed Cinema

Arrow in the UK are flying high, they don't seem to put a foot wrong at all these days. Recently we've seen them release the classic latex balloon flick The Beast Within (see my review here in which I lamented the lack of good releases for this), The Complete Dr. Phibes collection and Vincent Price staple diets Theatre of Blood and The Pit & the Pendulum. All of these have the standard Arrow extras; The Beast Within has a making of documentary and a commentary by the director, The Pit & the Pendulum has commentaries, etcetera, and The Complete Dr. Phibes is rich with material including an interview with Price's daughter, a historian's rambling overview, two commentaries, but best of all is a one hundred page booklet. Whoo hoo! (Releases are DVD and Blu-Ray and sometimes steelbox.) Read More...

I had to laugh at this, what an awesome write up. To quote a cool Facebook post about the upcoming Megafoot :MEGAFOOT is NOT a superhero film. MEGAFOOT doesn't need super-powers. He wouldn't make a particularly good superhero anyway - there's nothing heroic about him. Can you "heroically disembowel" someone? Plus, he doesn't look good in spandex.” Also on the Facebook page is stated: “We're currently building the practical FX MEGAFOOT beast - once this has been completed we will start to shoot the demo footage which will hopefully bring in the budget we need for the feature.” Read More...

Atom Bombs and Aliens!
The News - Latest News

There's a nifty little movie being put together about J. Robert Oppenheimer the so called 'father' of atomic bombs. Okay, so what's that got to do with Severed Cinema and the horror community? Well not so much a horror based article but an interesting science fiction idea that has J. Robert Oppenheimer, Albert Einstein and electrical technician Nikola Tesla, running into problems whilst creating the atomic bomb so they basically look to contact extra-terrestrials who provided the technology. Set in 1937 and to star Bill Oberst Jr. as Oppenheimer. Apparently the production team have also found their Einstein but as of now haven't revealed who yet. Read More...

Ahh, remember the days of Deep Red, In the Flesh, and tons of small print splatter coated zines popping out worldwide? Before the days of the internet I reckon everyone slammed into their local horror shops or greedily lapped up whatever popped through the letter box. Mags that told you about the tiny films as well, those lovingly crafted works of art done for nothing but to give back to the community.

Well here's Monstrosity, a magazine that's made of paper devoted to the indie horror scene. Read More...
