Joe Bob Briggs breaks the internet causing Shudder to crash!

To horror fans, the date Friday the 13th holds a special place in our blackened heats. Not only does it represent one of the most popular horror franchises with the beloved hockey-mask-adorned, machete wielding madman, but it’s also a prime excuse to chill out and watch horror flicks into the wee hours.

Now enter Shudder -- the horror movie streaming service -- into the picture where they announced that on this sacred date (last evening, July 13th, 2018) renowned horror host Joe Bob Briggs would be taking over!

“24 Hours. 13 Films. One Horror Host’s return to glory. The World’s Foremost Drive-in Movie Critic – actually he’s pretty much the world’s only Drive-in Critic – Joe Bob Briggs brings his iconic swagger to Shudder. Across 13 movies, this firebrand of horror and drive-in cinema offers honest appreciation, hilarious insight, inside stories and of course, the Drive-in totals. This Friday, July 13 on Shudder TV, park your rear: you’re at the Last Drive In.”

Horror fans salivated at the idea, including none-other-than Stephen King:

Little did Shudder realize what mass horror hysteria Joe Bob Briggs would stir amongst so many fans tuning in, that ultimately the entire streaming service crashed due to the demand. It went offline just before 9PM. Kaput. This lasted several hours resulting in people merely giving up for the evening.

Joe Bob Briggs broke the internet!

Shudder were quick to address the issue with viewers, but the damage was done, at least for the evening.

The good news is that Joe Bob Briggs is alive and well amongst the horror community. This slight unfortunate hiccup within the Shudder streaming service has now been corrected and each movie will become available on demand with Joe Bob's commentary, as well as a replay next weekend. Hours ago the man himself posted this statement via Facebook:

Hail Joe Bob Briggs and long live The Last Drive-In!
