The Indie Fest 2012 Awards: Actor Lawrence Buchér receives “Award of Merit” for supporting actor in “Mutilation Mile.”

LA JOLLA, California (May,12, 2012) - While more notables such as the impressive cast of “Silver Case” (Satyricon Pictures) starring Academy Award nominees Eric Roberts and Seymour Cassel took home “Best of Show” at The Indie Fest 2012, a once-was small town lesser-known actor, having grown up in Rim Rock, AZ (then known as Larry Wade Bucher), attending Beaver Creek Elementary through 1980, later attended both Camp Verde and Mingus Union High School before moving to the bigger and brighter lights of Las Vegas (now residing in Hollywood), found himself being awarded the “Award of Merit” for supporting actor in the 2011 horror film “Mutilation Mile.”

Lawrence, by nature was a late bloomer and for acting this proved to be no different. It wasn’t until the age of 30 that he decided to take his first acting class. And, it would prove to be even later before Lawrence would begin to seriously develop his craft, studying under the late, great, actor/coach, Joseph Bernard (“Judgment at Nuremberg”, “Ice Station Zebra”) from the summer of 2003 until 2005 at the New City Theatre in Las Vegas. Joseph, an American actor and acting teacher who appeared in 25 Broadway plays and several movies, not only was the executive director and teacher at the Hollywood, Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in 1968, he later made home in Las Vegas leaving his mark on hundreds of local-based actors and the Vegas community abroad, including this recent“Award of Merit” winner.

In winning an Indie, Lawrence Buchér joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award. Thomas Baker, Ph.D., who chairs The Indie Fest, had this to say about the latest winners: “The Indie is not an easy award to win. Entries are received from around the world. The Indie helps set the standard for craft and creativity. The goal is to help winners achieve the recognition they deserve.” Information about The Indie Fest and a list of recent winners can be found at:
