Leatherface is Coming Back Again in 2016 Print E-mail

It's quite alarming just how far the concept behind the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre can be destroyed. What made it creepy? One reason was we just had no idea why the family were doing what they were doing. It was just pure concentrated insanity.

TCM 2 gave the family a name, and a prior occupation, but not too much more.

Move forwards many years and due to the reboot of TCM, which was pretty good, we then had a prequel story (I haven't counted the other movies since they were so altered, if we were to run a timeline…) and now another one coming!!!

Leatherface is due out in 2016 and apparently goes way back to the origins of the Sawyer family and a very small Leatherface, well, a teenage Leatherface that is.

This was reported back in 2014 -- as a 'long awaited' project. Erm, okay.

The directors attached are Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (Inside). May star, Angela Bettis, was slated at one point to play the mother figure of the Sawyer household, however, that seems to have faded. Another rather annoying rumor circulated that once this one is out and about, another would follow. Thankfully this has also run out of steam.

Leatherface will be a reality though, following three young psychopaths, one of whom grows up to become the title character.
