(Washington, D.C.) – Spooky Movie – The Washington, D.C. International Horror Film Festival announced that the horror/comedy hit TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL will be the opening night feature for the fifth annual festival, held this year from October 21-25.

Since its debut at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, TUCKER & DALE has become one of the most popular (and funny) splatter epics to come along in years, receiving both the Audience Award at South by Southwest, and the Best First Feature Award at the Fantasia Film Festival. “It does for massacre flicks what SHAUN OF THE DEAD did for zombie movies,” said USA Today.

Some of the films joining TUCKER & DALE this year will be the DC premiere of the British zombie hit COLIN (as part of our Friday night Zombie Movie double feature), the Virginia premiere of the documentary on the career of Dick Dyszel (“Count Gore De Vol,” Captain 20,” and “Bozo The Clown”) EVERY OTHER DAY IS HALLOWEEN and the latest film from legendary filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis, THE UH-OH SHOW!, in its entirety – in its final version.

“We've welded together outrageous gore and outrageous humor,” says Herschell, who in 2009 debuted for the first time anywhere, footage from his new masterpiece to the Spooky Movie patrons. “The audience will know we had a good time making this one, and I can promise they'll have a good time watching it.”

Additional films to be announced include more zombies, monsters, maniacs and an American Premiere of a new Chinese film for closing night. The full schedule will be released September 7.

Opening night on October 21 will be held at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, with the rest of the screenings (October 22-25) will be at Cinema Arts in Fairfax, VA. More information visit
