Severed Cinema News: The Mortal Remains of Karl Finally Arrives In October!

THE MORTAL REMAINS OF KARL FINALLY ARRIVES IN OCTOBER!

In the vast world of 'found footage' and mockumentary movies, there are few which do it correctly. Off the top of my head, I can only think of Grave Encounters, REC, Zombie Diaries and Troll Hunter as some which actually thrilled me. (I'm avoiding the most known titles here such as Cannibal Holocaust, The Blair Witch Project, Man Bites Dog and so on. I truly enjoyed Diary of the Dead as well, so there!)

I haven't seen Mortal Remains yet, but from what I've heard and read up on it, it's done absolutely right. Which is a surprise this film has existed for many years -- since 2013, gathering many awards, and only now is due an official DVD release. The (true) story sounds wonderful as well.

“...... focusing on the life, brief career, and mysterious death of Maryland filmmaker Karl Atticus, referred to by some as the "godfather of the slasher film." Features interviews with various historians and aficionados including Eduardo Sanchez, director of "The Blair Witch Project," who in a 2008 interview posited the question: Why, for nearly four decades, has Atticus's story been practically eradicated from the annals of cinematic history?”

I'm reminded of the super awesome John Carpenter short he made for Master's of Horror. Here's a few tasty Mortal Remains links including a trailer, and a biography on Karl Atticus.
