Just in theory, The Baby is enough of a demented concept
to intrigue anyone looking for a highly unusual exploitation
film. I'm not sure how plausible it is for a adult to exhibit
successive signs of infantile
behavior,
but I believe it, dammit! You've never seen coddling quite like
this, folks! The
Baby begins with a social worker
checking up on a household belonging to a mother and her two
bastardized daughters, PLUS one brother who is a grown man with
the mentality of a baby. He isn't just acting like a baby, nor
is he mentally retarded. It just so happens that mommy has had
a few failed marriages and finds it to be a deserving coping
mechanism to deprive her son of the attainment of "growing."
Hence, he remains in a "crib-ridden" state of infancy. Can
feminism get any more extreme?! The social worker bonds with
the man-child, plays with him and earns his trust, while
harboring a deep concern...

The
Baby is a weird flick, even for those who are into,
"weird" movies! Now, it isn't a gore flick or especially
violent, just to get that out of the way. It messes with you on
a different stratum, of which most people have thought of at one
point and usually laughed about: a grown man as a baby.
Granted, you WANT to laugh at The
Baby but damned if you
cannot! It's just THAT bizarre. It's still chock-full of great
scenes, such as the babysitter letting Baby cop a suckle off her
tit while obviously enjoying it. Not to mention Baby's birthday
party which looks more like a hang-out for bikers and junkies,
as well as the sleazy uncle roaming around, trying to get some
sex off the sister. Good stuff! Those abusive sisters with
their semi-pedophiliac urges and their cattle prod were kind of
hot in a "sick" sense. The ending was completely out of left
field. One of the few film endings that actually left me
speechless.
If you like oddball stuff then The
Baby is definitely an
obscure gem to check out.
