James Bell, the underground filmmaker from Michigan, has quickly garnered a name for himself with his nonconforming cinema that pushes the envelope of both insanity and gruesome practical effects. With such movies as Manure, Nutsack, Nutsack Part I: Lucifer's Cosmonauts, Tantrum and now his sequel to that film, Tantrum 2: Phantom of the Demon, Bell shows there is no stopping the captivating hysteria he splatters across the digital screen.

Tantrum 2: Phantom of the Demon is pure experimental, horror gore at peak transcendence. With its short runtime of about forty-minutes, it bashes your brains in with an experienced hammer. If youíre into experimental cinema, with absurdist visuals that are chock full of gruesome murder-set-pieces, then
Tantrum 2 is for you.

You can take Phantom of the Demon at face value and merely absorb the visceral madness. This viewer however, interpreted his own account of the gnarly activity represented hereinÖ

Tantrum 2: Phantom of the Demon is a nonlinear portrayal of madness via clips of both black and white and color carnage transposed with an equally bat-shit-crazy soundscape, also created by Bell. Bell plays our main character, presented to me as a maniacal serial killer, rapist. We see him in his man cave of blood-drenched gore and body parts -- both fresh and new. One day we see Bell attack and rape a woman. That woman is none-other-than wife, Mae Bell (this is a family affair after all). Well, upon this violation, Mae return the assault with a rather grisly toothy blowjob. Geysers of blood follow with Jameís castration. Mae quickly snags up the severed member and hides it in her female compartment for safe keeping. James bleeds to death in appropriate agony.

Back home, we then see footage of Mae squirting out the severed member. This ultimately culminates with a disgusting vaginal infection -- an infection so foul it looked like Slimer took a crap in her undercarriage. Slime, bile, puss, grue. She canít take this, nor the assault, so she says farewell with a bullet to her face.

As aforementioned, this is all my description of the goings-on which are all spliced together in nonlinear fashion. You, dear reader, may construe things differently. In fact, Bell himself might have a different vision altogether. This is the beauty of experimental cinema such as this.

What follows are depictions of James and May in some sort of afterlife, or purgatory, as they prance around the town with giant meatballs for heads. In one awesome scene we see one of the meatballís noggins bashed in with a hammer, exposing the gore-filled skull. This is one of many premium scenes of silicon butchery which I will leave to new viewers without divulging here.

Tantrum 2: Phantom of the Demon is a uniquely surreal experience in subversive experimental cinema. Even if you are only in this ride for the top-notch practical effects, viewers wonít be displeased. This is a foray into James Bellís hell (or heaven) as he sees it. Itís your duty to get wet.
