Annabelle doll on Severed Cinema

In October Annabelle arrives, as a spin-off story based around the creepy doll in The Conjuring. John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia -- a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia's delight with Annabelle doesn't last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now... Annabelle.

Should Annabelle have been left to a small selection of eerie scenes in the original movie? Will this one be a terrifying blockbuster? It doesn't seem to take much to scare folks these days so it will probably be a massive hit and a start of a new franchise. (The Conjuring 2 is also on its way at a later date) Director John R. Leonetti directed The Butterfly Effect 2 and worked on The Conjuring and Insidious 2 as a cinematographer, so let's see if James Wan has rubbed off on him. To be fair, James Wan is like Ti West as a director, who can slow burn and drill up the tension in his work.

There's no big stars attached which isn't a bad thing really -- it means the film can grow a reputation on its own. The cast includes Eric Ladin, Annabelle Wallis, and Tony Amendola.

Here's a trailer which has all the traditional trappings found in such subject matter:
