Dario Argento's The Sandman on Severed Cinema

The latest project on IndieGoGo I've come across is by old school stylish horror master, Dario Argento.

In recent years though, Dario has experienced an epic fall from grace with films dry of ideas and full of quick rushed imaginations.

So enter The Sandman, which is to star Iggy Pop and is apparently a Christmas movie. Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots) has apparently put together the theme tune, but long time Argento buddy, Claudio Simonetti is to compose the soundtrack. David Tully has written the script and it is said to feature references to previous Dario classics.

So, to quote the IndieGoGo page: “Our film tells the story of Nathan, a young  student in the city who struggles to forget his childhood trauma at the hands of the serial killer dubbed "The Sandman": a masked killer who murders his victims with a lethally jagged melon spoon (yes, you read that right!), and claims their eyes as trophies. Nathan killed The Sandman years ago, on Christmas Eve, after he witnessed the murder of his mother, and the nightmare seems to be buried in the past ... until he sees the beautiful woman who lives in the apartment across the way dying at the hands of that very same masked killer. This brutal murder plunges Nathan into an odyssey into the night country of his past, his dreams...and the buried secrets of... you guessed it!... The Sandman, who's on the hunt again.”

Here's the page and a website .

Iggy Pop as a serial killer... yeah, why not?
