Scream and Shout About the Upcoming Shout Factory Releases!
September is bringing a few tasty old gems from the vaults of Hammer courtesy of Shout Factory. First one I have to mention is the absolute eerie classic, Straight on Till Morning (I need to review it soon, it’s so good), with Shane Bryant and Rita Tushingham, this is a slow burning but atmosphere building serial killer flick. Rita also provides audio commentary.
Also, Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb and Scars of Dracula, as above, all get the Shout Blu-ray treatment in September (BFTMT, by the way, has loads of interviews included). Speaking of old British flicks, howsabout Fright? It’s more of a thriller, which has a babysitter being stalked by the demented husband of the mother who has escaped from the hospital. To me, it suffers a very weak ending, but Susan George really gives it some power in the lead role.
Moving away from the UK, across the next couple of months they are chucking out a great edition of the 1979 version of Dracula with Frank Langella (that movie scared me as a kid) and Fear No Evil, plus an Omen boxset. Okay, we’ve had loads of Omen sets from everywhere in the past, so it’s for the hardcore collector.
Now then, I’ve saved the best ’til last. In September, Shout Factory are giving us a limited edition statue from The Howling! I’m getting hairy palms just thinking about it! Limited to 1,500 and priced at 65 dollars, it’s worth a transformation or two.
