‘Highway to Hell’ Screams onto Blu-ray in a Limited Edition Resurrection from Transmission Video Distribution
There’s a significant amount of forgotten wild horrors from the VHS era which never really found themselves getting a general release other than maybe a short run DVD or some foreign titled release somewhere. Highway to Hell from 1991 is one such flick and is extremely wacky. It was featured heavily in Gorezone Magazine at its time of release, showcasing a ton of effects, plus sporting a really original idea.
Charlie and his fiancée, Rachel (Kristy Swanson) run into the Hell Cop one dark night on the highway. He kidnaps her so Charlie has to drive straight into Hell to rescue her from the Devil.
Story wise, it’s a bit of a yo-yo, effects and film wise, it’s rich with incredible visions and weird characters. Ben Stiller pops us, as does heavy metal icon, Lita Ford.
Steve Johnson (Nightmare on Elm Street 4, Species) is one of the huge FX team behind this hidden gem, and it’s getting a release via Radiance Films’ new sub-label, Transmission Video Distribution, limited to 3000 copies in April’s. Loads of extras as well. Below is the selling blurb:
