Al Adamson and Shinya Tsukamoto Boxsets Coming Soon!
Two prolific, legendary and very twisted characters, Al Adamson and Shinya Tsukamoto, are due large boxset releases very soon via Severin and Arrow respectively.
The late ill-fated, Al Adamson was a man who’s name should be known to all readers due to his massive output of trash features over a handful of decades. Satan’s Sadists, Blood of Dracula’s Castle, Psycho a Go-Go, Brain of Blood… this guy churned them out and made a comfy living off pleasing the multitude of demented low budget dirty cinema minds. In 1995, however, Al was murdered by contractor, Fred Fulford, who buried his remains under concrete and tiles (in his hot tub!!). It is awful to say, but to end your life similar to a character in a B-Movie, was kind of fitting.
Those beautiful people at Severin have compiled an absolute monster of a set to celebrate his works (a monster price of nearly $200 though, $170 if you order from Severin direct!!!), giving us 30 films on Blu-ray and a large book to read. All the before mentioned classics are there, and many more (The Dynamite Brothers, Black Heat, Death Dimension, etcetera).
Due out towards the end of April, the set includes commentaries, and the incredible documentary, Blood & Flesh. A wild world of kung fu, mad scientists, bikers, naughty nurses… what more could you want?
Meanwhile, on another level comes, Shinya Tsukamoto. The incredible mind behind the Tetsuo trilogy. This upcoming collection isn’t a complete overview, it’s missing a lot (notably Tetsuo III – see review – and Hiruko the Goblin), but what Arrow have added onto the set is a head turner. Vital, A Snake of June, the first two Tetsuo flicks, Bullet Ballet, and more, so it’s worth the asking cash price.
There’s an unbelievable amount of extras, commentaries, interviews, making-of’s, behind the scenes, it goes on and on. Terrific cover as well.
Both sets are due out late April so it’s time to save yer pennies…
