Anal Bleeding: Two Cocks In The Same Hole Album Review!

Quebec has been one of the death metal meccas of Canada, and introduced some of the countries most prominent and successful bands such as Cryptopsy, Gorguts, Ex-Deo, Kataklysm and more. We fortunately have some more unheard of acts which also deserve an honorable mention, even if they have since split up. I’m always on the look out for any Canadian content because the scene is not vast but I have managed to dig up a few gems from time to time.
This time I have found the only album from Quebec natives Anal Bleeding. Anal Bleeding also have a couple demos, including a four song self titled demo released in 2000 and another demo titled Guts Out Of Anus released in 2001. The last four tracks on Two Cocks In The Same Hole are from the Guts Out Of Anus demo. Those songs being Rodeo Cunt, Wrektal Discharge, Penis Exorcism and Born In Menstrual Excrements. This was released on CDN Records, a label which has handled some more reputable but unknown fellow Canadian death acts such as Blastomycosis and Ruptured Birth among others. Two Cocks In The Same Hole when released was limited to 2000 copies.
Anal Bleeding deliver solid grind gore similar to that of Amputated or Disgorge (USA), so if you love the burp style ultra guttural vocals and chugging riffs with constant blast beats then Anal Bleeding will soothe your ears. We get lots of intros and samples from movies, some of which are familiar such as Peter Jackson’s Brain Dead and Bad Taste, and surprisingly with the song titles and albums title suggesting more porn influenced topics you’d think the band would feature more sick porn samples but only Penis Exorcism actually features an intro from a hardcore porn flick “Here it comes baby! Come take it! Come take it!” As always, I love the rather creative and tasteless song titles such as Pestilential Pussy Lips, Oxidized Tampon Fumes and Sperm Overdose.
Two Cocks In The Same Hole is a solid album but my main complaint is that most of the songs are indistinguishable except for the samples and the production is a bit muddled. It’s tough in this genre to really stick out from the pack and this is something Anal Bleeding suffer from. I’m proud to say this well made piece of sick brutal death/grind came out of Canada’s swollen rectum because it sounds every bit as good as any of its American counterparts. Like always, it’s a damn shame they cut their career short by only putting out one release but such is life. If you’re into this style of brutal death/grind then Anal Bleeding would be a welcomed addition to your collection. As always the Discogs site is a good place to start if you’re seeking it out since it’s OOP.
