Cannibals Beneath London: Blue Underground Unearths Raw Meat (AKA Death Line) in 4K UHD
Blue Underground has announced the world premiere of a brand-new 4K restoration of Raw Meat (also known as Death Line), one of Britain’s most infamous subterranean horror films. The cannibal shocker arrives September 30th, 2025, in a Limited Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray combo, alongside standalone Blu-ray and DVD editions.
A Cult British Horror Returns
First released in 1972, Raw Meat dragged audiences deep beneath London’s Russell Square station into a nightmare of decay, claustrophobia, and cannibalism. The film follows Patricia Wilson (Sharon Gurney) and Alex Campbell (David Ladd) as they stumble across a mysterious unconscious man on the steps of the Underground. When he suddenly vanishes, the investigation by Inspector Calhoun (Donald Pleasence, Cul-de-sac, The Pumaman) uncovers a terrifying legend of workers entombed during the construction of the tunnels—survivors who resorted to cannibalism to live, spawning generations of feral descendants still hunting in the dark.
Adding star power to the horror, the film features Christopher Lee (Horror Express, The Wicker Man) and Hugh Armstrong (The Beastmaster) in a disturbing role originally intended for Marlon Brando. Directed by Gary Sherman, who later helmed Dead & Buried, Vice Squad, and Poltergeist III, Raw Meat cemented itself as a unique entry in the British horror canon with its grim tone and unforgettable atmosphere.
Restored and Revitalized
Blue Underground has pulled Raw Meat back into the light with a meticulous 4K restoration sourced from the original uncensored camera negative. The release includes Dolby Vision HDR and a new Dolby Atmos audio mix, giving horror fans the most immersive presentation of the film to date.
