Confessions of a Necrophile Girl Review from TetroVideo!
As reported within the pages of Severed Cinema in late 2020, Confessions of a Necrophile Girl (Confessioni di una Necrofila) is based on true story of necrophile Karen Greenlee. By way of a title card the viewer is told: “Karen G. is an American girl who was convicted of stealing a hearse and having sex with the corpse it contained. She is considered as the best-known modern practitioner of necrophilia and her case was the subject of much research due to her sex: only ten percent of known necrophiles are women.”
Written and directed by Severed Cinema regular Domiziano Cristopharo, the film basically opens to our main character Karen (played convincingly by the lovely Angela del Regno) who records camcorder video logs after seemingly being caught. “After the scandal, everyone turned their backs on me.” She claims. She continues that she severed ties with her sister and that her mother was the only person who didn’t turn their back on her. She continues to relay that her boyfriend was disgusted with her after the trial and continues to proudly discuss how she started. “There are many ways to please a woman.” She states. “The dead… they are there, lying down. Motionless. And yet they have everything I need to be happy.” Karen finally says to the camera, ”And then the cold, the death, the smell, everything contributes…”
For the remainder of Confessions of a Necrophile Girl the viewer bears witness to Karen visiting homes as a Mortuary Cosmetologist to ready the deceased loved ones for funerals. She professionally, and carefully adorns the corpses with make-up and clothing, but additionally has sexual relations with them. Whether that be her riding the body or using their hands to rub against herself. She takes care of her duty whilst also secretly fulfilling her necrophiliac desires with her male subjects. Corpses have make-up wax applied to their disfigurements such as gaping hand wounds or the sowing of a severed lip shut, and nail filing.
For the most part Karen’s subjects are freshly deceased men with minor blemishes. However, at one point later in the film she introduces a rotting female corpse to the festivities. These sequences while portrayed delicately and “romantically” still depict a grotesque dripping oozing corpse which seems to excite her just as much, or even more.
Aside from her video tape confessions, and the footage of her corpse interactions, there are certain scenes of dream sequence fantasies that Karen has, where zombie men are fondling her, and kissing her, as well as her being dead complete with green vaginal slime.
Confessions of a Necrophile Girl is Domiziano Cristopharo’s answer to Nekromantik. The film is beautifully shot, and carefully executed, with a tender care to loving the dead. Even where there is a rotting oozing corpse involved (which looks appropriately gross from Athanasius Pernath), it’s treated delicately which makes this character study of Karen Greenlee all the more palatable and interesting.
