Doll Fluids Review from Ensuring Your Body to Hell Productions!
Young indie filmmaker Jack Mulvanerty has been around the block more than a couple times when it comes to making low budget SOV and indie films. Before hitting the ripe age of 20 himself and counterpart Johnny Dickie are already after putting a few films in the notches of their belts. Indie films such as City of The Dream Demons and Slaughtertales are Dickie’s movies but Mulvanerty is there with him.
Mulvanerty has made a few films/shorts himself such as Impiety, Creeps: Tales of Murder And Mayhem as well as an entry in Marcus Kochs Anthology Symbolicus: Volume 2.
Mulvanerty got in touch with me through my Twisted Minds Facebook Page (visit here) and offered up his latest short Doll Fluids. He was also gracious enough to include a bunch of his other shorts for me to check out.
If I remember correctly, I reviewed Johnny Dickie’s City of The Dream Demons years ago and gave it a scathingly bad review. Not taking into consideration the young fellas were just doing their thing and cutting their chops with the do-it-yourself attitude. I remember receiving some backlash from the review which was worth a few laughs. Anyways, despite this I’m glad Mulvanerty contacted me himself recently with Doll Fluids.
Doll Fluids is an impressive and dark 12-minute short which pulls no punches. It’s serious and to the point. In your face and forcing itself down your throat. I see all the influences here such as the surge in popularity of material Lucifer Valentine has done or A Baroque House fetish short films or stuff like 29 Needles (see review here) and Larva Mental (see review here).
Mulvanerty has clearly stated he is on the level when it comes to keeping up with all the darkest underground entertainment. He is genuinely a fan of underground art films as he is a filmmaker and has an extensive checklist of all the stuff he has watched and pulls inspiration from. Above all this he told me Doll Fluids is also simply fuelled by “the darkness of life, sadistic sexual pleasure and a hatred of life.”
Doll Fluids features Mulvanerty and a female who engage in kinky fetish activity plus other nasty stuff featuring an abundance of body fluids (hence the name) and culminating with a very uncomfortable torture of some male genitalia. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination and a link to purchase.
Doll Fluids is a dark, grim, and atmospheric short which fits perfectly in with that fetish style horror in the vein of SamHel’s work, Lucifer Valentine’s, or even Sado Messiah Productions minus the XXX content.
Mulvanerty also sent a couple of shorts I dug such as Devoid which is sort of in the same vein featuring a masked guy fucking a girl doggy style with a knife in the bathroom. It has that dark fetish vibe with only two actors and everything playing out in a single room yet still dark and very effective in tone and delivery.
If you like that horror/fetish vibe I think you’ll dig Doll Fluids as it plays safely along those lines. It was definitely an eye-opening short featuring some graphic material that effectively got my attention.
