Erotophonophiliac: Documents of a Lust Murderer Review from Gross Video!
Viewers familiar with the fetishistic short film releases of A Baroque House or Gross Video, from enigmatic director, Adrian Baez, Akiko Janos, or most recently calling himself SamHel, are in for a different experience with this upcoming release. This time around SamHel brings you a pseudo-documentary style film called Erotophonophiliac: Documents of a Lust Murderer.
Using footage originally shot in 2008 for the unreleased parody film Amateur Porn Star Killer 3D: Inside the Head, by director Shane Ryan, SamHel, takes that footage from Ryan, and weaves his own twisted tale about lust murderer “Brandon,” the lead character from the Amateur Porn Star Killer trilogy of films released from 2006-2009.
Erotophonophiliac: Documents of a Lust Murderer opens to a girl masturbating on a bed, as the Gross Video Productions presents title card appears across her. This mockumentary plays along with the mythos of the Amateur Porn Star Killer films, stating notorious serial killer Brandon has gained notoriety and amassed devoted fans and copycats. The film continues to explain that the footage you are about to view was found and strung together, it being unknown if the footage is real or fake.
From watching the trailer for Amateur Porn Star Killer 3D: Inside the Head on Mad Sin Cinema’s Vimeo (watch the trailer here), one can’t help but get an entirely different vibe for what the film was meant to be. I can’t help but feel like it was intended to be an over-the-top series of footage based on the Amateur Porn Star Killer universe, which is probably why it was shelved and never released. Erotophonophiliac feels like a more serious beast.
SamHel, taking the reins of the footage, has edited his own little monster, with Erotophonophiliac, giving the viewer a fresh take on this footage that never was. It’s interesting to see a new take on the APSK series, with a more sinister vibe, whilst peppering in the best nudity and sleaze shot by Shane Ryan. It also has cameos by porn actor director, William Margold, other porn stars, and Shane Ryan regular Kai Lanette (Warning!!! Pedophile Released, Amateur Porn Star Killer 2). Kudos goes to Shane Ryan for letting SamHel utilize the footage into his own vision. The duo ends up breathing new life into this.
Whilst a different entity than SamHel’s previous efforts, Erotophonophiliac has enough Baroque House flair to stand with its counterparts. For fans of the Amateur Porn Star Killer series, it’s a no brainer to check this one out as well.
