Hillbilly Holocaust Review from Fäkalocaust Productions!
It’s always time for a celebration of low budget pointless primitive underground gore when the Fäkalocaust cult release a new slab of celluloid. Madman Marv and crew are back and better than ever with Hillbilly Holocaust.
There are big technical improvements this time around since the first The Swabian Sawmill Massacre (read review here). Hillbilly Holocaust is shot well in sharp HD quality, and it has a great score by Musica Non Grata. The plot/premise is simple, but Hillbilly Holocaust is a nice and chill gory effort for the fans. Sit back, eat your favourite edible, or blow up a blunt bat and indulge in a gory good time
Hillbilly Holocaust weaves a tale of the supernatural. A family of local yokels dwell in a house that just happens to sit atop a gateway to the underworld. In order to quell the demons that attempt to break through to our world the hillbillies must sacrifice humans. It seems they need 666 victims to be exact.
The family spend their time wading through the nearby forest shooting, disembowelling, stabbing, hacking, and decapitating everyone they come across. There is a plentiful dose of practical effects present here. While obviously homegrown the effects still deliver and are nice and saucy.
I get a kick out of the fact that films like this are being made in 2023. Take a look back to the early nineties with stuff like Andreas Schnass’ Violent Shit or Jochen Stephen’s Blutnacht. Madman Marv is flying the torch high and proud. The woods are still not safe as the hillbilly family are looking to dispatch their quota of human victims.
If you loved previous Fäkalocaust Productions films, then this one will satiate your hunger and then some. If you look closely, you can notice some little Easter eggs such as indie gore filmmaker James Bell’s (Nutsack, Manuer, Dog Dick) human face lamp shade. Hillbilly Holocaust doesn’t take itself too seriously, it seems the cast are having a good time making the film and it shows. I noticed a bunch of other little fun nods and snippets as well.
Hillbilly Holocaust is a modern ode to the classic and infamous underground German gore films of yester year. If you’re a gore film fan you should have a good time with this one and then some.
