I Curse This Land Begins Production!
I Curse This Land has been described as a folk horror and begins production on the shores of the UK roundabout now.
Produced by Sam Mason Bell (who’s also director of photography) the man behind Terror at Black Tree Forest (see review here) and Lonely Hearts (see review here) plus directed by Jackson Batchelor, who directed one of the segments within A Taste of Phobia (see review here), I Curse This Land has been through the crowd funding routes and is starting its gruesome journey to completion.
Starring Chris (A Taste of Phobia, Hacker) Mills and Annabella (Terror at Black Tree Forest, Acting) Rich – incidentally she was absolutely brilliant in Terror at Black Tree Forest, this sounds like a proper old school ‘70s vibe British creation
In a sleepy coastal village, a curse lies waiting. Legend has it one-night centuries ago when a smuggler was delivering his illicit wares, the excise men pounced. One of the villagers had betrayed him. The smuggler was caught and quickly hanged as an example but, his widow was more than she seemed, the practitioner of an ancient religion of magic and sorcery. The villagers formed a mob to hunt her down as a witch, they brutalised her, tarred and feathered her, but before they could kill her, she put one last curse upon the land; that nothing should flourish, no life or love, before taking her own life and spilling her blood upon the land.
Filming is planned in the seaside coast town of Selsey, a traditional sleepy place which will simply add shovels of atmosphere via lush locations.”
