Jay Creepy’s ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ Segment in ‘White Gardenia: The King James Bible’ Promises a Post-Apocalyptic Nightmare!
Severed Cinema writer Jay Creepy presents his latest creation—a ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ segment for the eagerly anticipated anthology film, White Gardenia: The King James Bible, co-developed with Vivian Kay Quintero. This cinematic venture is an underground and experimental horror reinterpretation of the Testaments.
Building on his short film portfolio, Jay Creepy has previously showcased his directorial prowess in short films like Perdita, featured in the upcoming Video Shop Tales of Terror II, and Reapers World from the Archives of Death series.
This segment focusses on the story of ‘Jacob’s Ladder,’ a biblical story from Genesis in the King James Bible. Jacob, the grandson of Abraham, has a dream where he sees a ladder connecting Earth to Heaven, with angels ascending and descending. At the top, God reaffirms the covenant with Abraham, blessing Jacob and his descendants. This story symbolizes the connection between the earthly and divine realms.
Set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world, the narrative unfolds as Jacob and Martha attempt to evade a rapidly ascending religious group led by the formidable Matthias. Caught in a trap, both protagonists suffer injuries, finding refuge among dilapidated buildings as they are relentlessly pursued by Matthias and his marauding gang of savages. As Jacob succumbs to his wounds, he descends into unconsciousness beside a monumental staircase where celestial beings descend. In this surreal moment, he witnesses a vision of God, signaling the onset of unimaginable horror.
Written and directed by Jay Creepy, recognized for his work in Beyond Fury and Axel Falcon, the film is co-directed by Ash Webb, featuring special effects and music by Willow Brian, known for contributions to Axel Falcon and Reapers World.
The cast includes emerging talents Lucy Danger, Ryu Riley, and Ash Webb, alongside accomplished performers Minni Riley, Lily Cooke, Spyda, and David Coneyworth. Notably, the film features a cameo appearance by underground movie legend Rob Ceus (Cement, Zombies from Sector 9). With this diverse ensemble, White Gardenia: The King James Bible promises a gripping exploration of underground horror within a unique biblical narrative.
