Night of the Executioner: Paul Naschy’s Vengeance Unleashed on Blu-ray from Mondo Macabro!
Mondo Macabro and CAV are bringing forth another glorious moment in legendary Paul Naschy’s wonderful and lengthy career as writer, director, and actor. Night of the Executioner was made in 1992, and apparently was a rarity as it’s one of the only times that he used his own voice — other roles were dubbed by professional dubbers. This Blu-ray release arrives in August 2023 but is available for pre-order July 11th.
Night of the Executioner, this disturbing revenge thriller sounds absolutely amazing:
Dr. Hugo Arranz (Paul Naschy) is commemorating his 50th birthday with his wife and daughter. As the celebrations reach their height, the family is terrorized by a gang of violent street thugs who have broken into their home. Initially the gang is after jewels and cash. But once they have their helpless victims tied up and defenceless, their thoughts turn to violence. They rape Arranz’s wife and daughter and then, annoyed by the doctor’s protests, they cut out his tongue and leave him for dead.
Arranz survives the attack and recovers after a stay in hospital. Abandoning his medical practice, he seeks vengeance on the men and women who destroyed his life. He embarks on a strenuous course of physical training, involving knives, guns and punishing bouts of weightlifting. Finally, he is ready to go in pursuit of his prey. But to track them down, he must enter the sleazy underworld which his potential victims inhabit. In the process, Dr. Arranz begins to learn much, not only about his targets but also about himself.
Dr. Hugo becomes an expert marksman, combat fighter and much more whilst showing an icy soulless unstoppable lust for vengeance.
Personally, I’m a huge unapologetic fan of Jacinto Molina Álvarez aka Mr. Paul Naschy so this one will be getting ordered.
