Profane Order: One Nightmare unto Another Album Review!
Profane Order Music Review:
Profane Order are back with a war metal serenade. One Nightmare unto Another is a big professional sounding production, just resulting in a huge effect on this recording. It really adds to the sheer energy and aggression on display here.
Opting out of the rawer sounding production of Slave Morality (see review here) with One Nightmare Unto Another is showing the bands progression. Precision in tight musicianship as well. I sit back in awe at the number of drum fills achieved in this. It’s just breakneck speed throughout and doesn’t let you up for air.
The opener ‘In the Shadows of he Past’ just rips everything to shreds. This time the vocals are clearer as well. I hear the vocals more and they have this black metal punk sound to them. They are definitely not losing any of the rawness of the blistering traditional black metal style. My other favorite song on the album is the closer ‘Of Bile and Malice’ because it really takes the material in a creative direction.
For me this is war metal personified and relentless. A new breed of chaotic musical horde delivering mighty pulverized blows to the subgenre. One Nightmare unto Another sits besides the likes of Toxic Holocaust, another band that took punk and mixed it with blackened thrash metal.
Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Profane Order consists of Illusory (Spectral Wound) and Olcadóir (Skumstrike). One Nightmare unto Another is pure pounding nuclear war metal brought to the next level.
