The Criminal Acts of Tod Slaughter: Eight Blood-and-Thunder Entertainments Coming to Blu-ray from Powerhouse Films!
Indicator / Powerhouse Films are releasing the absolute best boxset I’ve witnessed in a while! I mean that because I’m a big fan of the insane monstrous legend of early British horror cinema, Tod Slaughter.
His films weren’t actually classified as horror, melodrama was the genre for these loud low budget gems, but Tod (an incredible dominant powerhouse on stage as well as films) played murderers, criminals, and serial killers with gusto.
The Criminal Acts of Tod Slaughter has eight of his movies on blu-ray. This isn’t his complete CV but it’s definitely his greatest achievements. His works are eerie, violent, and quite gothic in parts. Some are even based on true stories or legends off the dark wet cobble stone streets.
I reviewed one of them many moons ago, Crimes at the Dark House (see the Tod Slaughter review here). So that’ll give you a taster if you haven’t seen anything before. Be warned, the sets and (aside from Mr. Slaughter) the acting can be rather wobbly, but it all adds up to maximum fun.
