Unearthed Films to Unleash ‘The Guyver’ Limited Collector’s Edition on 4K UHD + Blu-ray + CD Soundtrack!
As recently posted about by Dawn of the Discs, Unearthed Films is set to release The Guyver in a new 4K UHD restoration preserving the original R-rated film from the 35mm camera negative. The 4K UHD Limited Collector’s Edition will contain the 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray, and CD soundtrack composed by Matthew Morse along with a plethora of supplemental material. A standard Blu-ray and DVD will also be available.
The Guyver (released in Europe and South America as Mutronics) is a 1991 science fiction tokusatsu superhero film directed by Screaming Mad George and Steve Wang, and produced by Brian Yuzna (Society, Bride of Re-Animator). The film is loosely based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Yoshiki Takaya and was produced in conjunction with Shochiku Films. Starring Mark Hamill, Vivian Wu, Jack Armstrong, Jimmie Walker, and David Gale, this international co-production of the United States and Japan follows the story of Sean Barker (Armstrong), a young man who stumbles upon an alien artifact known as “The Unit,” transforming him into an alien-hybrid super soldier called “The Guyver.” Barker discovers that the powerful Guyver unit is sought after by a major corporation named Chronos, which aims to genetically engineer monsters.
