Splashes of Vinegar Syndrome Coming This Month!
Vinegar Syndrome, those marvelous enthusiasts for the great cult discoveries and releases are bringing us a few new titles this month.
First off, we have a new Peekarama double bill, Rollerbabies, and Mount of Venus, two early mid ‘70s features by pornographic workhorse, Carter Stevens, sexy romps and fun are guaranteed to be had.
In the future, sex will be illegal…but there will be ROLLERBABIES! In a dystopian world where sex has been deemed a punishable offense to reduce the population, the only form of carnal release can be experienced through explicit action on TV. With an over saturation of hardcore programming, Sherman Frobish’s network is taking a dive…until he devises an ingenious plan to regain viewership: Rollberbabies! Carter Stevens’ loving tribute to sci-fi pulp and comic books is a light and breezy comedy and stars Terri Hall (Story of Joanna).
The Greek God Jupiter cannot understand why humans no longer worship his strength and virility. In an attempt to ‘prove’ his worthiness for praise, he travels to earth on a mission to seduce as many young women as he can, hoping to earn their devotion in the process. All the while, Jupiter’s fellow gods and goddesses form a literal Greek chorus, tracking and assessing his carnal pursuits. Sublimely goofy and starring Georgina Spelvin, Jamie Gillis, Kim Pope, and Eric Edwards, Mount of Venus is equal parts laughs and explicit action.
Then there’s also the Something Weird Video classic, Shriek of the Mutilated. Directed by grindhouse nasty legend, Michael Findley, this is a bizarre bigfoot yarn which comes with a few quickie documentaries and interviews on the release.
Their Archive section specialises in long forgotten video shop titles, such as Cyber Vengeance from 1995, the synopsis of such is:
In the year 2005, the prison system has been completely privatized and cyber prisons have become the new means for housing the guilty. The bodies of inmates are kept in suspended animation while their minds are kept in a virtual reality prison. Business tycoon, R.D. Crowley (Robert Davi) has found a way to capitalize on these virtual prisons, by allowing rich men to pay in order to engage in a form of virtual reality hunting that has real-life consequences for the inmates. Will (J. Gregory Smith), a guard at one of these prisons, soon finds himself coerced into one these virtual cat and mouse games. Armed with his knowledge of history along with his expert skills in virtual reality combat, Will must work with the inmates in order to save their lives and escape from the prison before it’s too late.
That sounds pretty damn awesome to be honest. Other titles like Sampo, Heavy Metal Parking Lot, and Satan’s Children are on their way. The latter has the bonus of a few tasty shorts, but also sounds wonderful:
Bobby is a troubled teen with problems. After deflecting his father’s insults and his stepsister’s come-ons, Bobby unknowingly ends up t a gay bar. Before long, he’s assaulted by four guys in the back seat of a car. With nowhere else to turn, Bobby joins a cult of Satanists to enact his murderous revenge.
See what I mean?
