What Kind of Horror Game is Pacify and Should You Play It?
Pacify is a first-person survival horror game focused on paranormal investigation. It made a big noise when it was released in 2019, but it quickly lost attention after a few years. Recently, I was invited by a friend to play this game. I was hesitant at first because I easily get dizzy with first-person games, and to be honest, this was no exception. However, it was a great game to play with friends, especially if you and your friends get scared easily, because it gets funny that way.
Here, I’ll be sharing my thoughts regarding Pacify and how my experience with this game turned out. Just one thing, though, if you’re planning to play this game, make sure that you have fast internet so you can actually enjoy the game. Otherwise, it’ll be a frustrating mess.
Should You Play Pacify?
Yes, you should play Pacify. It’s a fun game to play with friends, especially if you’re a group of three or four. If the game is active, you will not have any problem playing with random people, but at this point, there are only a few people playing the game. So, if you don’t have any friends to play with, it might be challenging to join a match with others online.
Here are some of the reasons why I think you should play Pacify:
1. The gameplay is fun and interesting.
The gameplay is easy. You simply work for PAH Inc. as paranormal investigators. There are four maps in the game: woods, dolls, farm, and headquarters. For each map, you have different objectives. At first, we couldn’t really understand what we needed to do, so we had to search for the guide. The most challenging map for us would be the headquarters, followed by the dolls. It took us days before we could actually finish the two maps. As for the woods and farm, it was fairly easy to finish.
I also had a friend who kept disconnecting throughout the game. Turns out, his internet connection was trash. That’s why it’s very important to have a high-speed internet connection like Boost plans to prevent lag and disconnects from happening while you’re in the middle of the game.
2. You can play it solo or with your friends.
If you’re feeling brave or just prefer to play by yourself, you can do so. However, the only caveat is that you’re doing all the work instead of dividing the tasks between 2-3 people. This will, in return, make finishing the game a bit longer than usual (and also more terrifying and challenging). I tried playing it solo once, but I couldn’t finish it because it was too much for me. But if you’re planning to play with friends, a maximum of 4 players can play the game.
3. The jump scares are effective.
I’m pretty sure you’ve watched a lot of horror games on streaming deals before, so you know that feeling when a ghost suddenly appears and your heart skips a beat. Pacify pulled that off really nicely. There were lots of times when I thought my heart would beat out of my chest, especially in the dolls’ map. However, you get used to it after a while, but that doesn’t mean it stops being scary. As for me, even if I know what’s coming, the timing still catches me off guard.
4. It’s not that expensive, given the quality of the game.
Pacify costs $4.99 on Steam, but it often goes on sale, so you can get it for a lower price. Honestly, the game is wonderful if played with lots of friends. It doesn’t have a lot of replay value, so it might not keep you hooked for weeks or months, but it’s definitely worth it. I just hope that they add new maps so that old players will have something to look forward to and hopefully, encourage new players to buy the game.
