Unleashing Hellish Nightmares: Dive into the Brutal World of ‘Violent Obsession’
Review: Violent Obsession
Germany’s unsung gore pimp Sebastian Zeglarski is back with another kick at the corpse with Violent Obsession. The dude knows his way around fine handmade practical splatter effects. Part of the P.S.Y.C.H.O Productions collective Zeglarski has also dropped his own share of underground gore flicks. A Cruel Fucking Nightmare is regarded as a cult gore film in many underground circles and others such as What’s Wrong with You?, Lilli Got Sick (sequel in the works), and Zombiercalypse, etcetera. You can also check out his amazing gory stills on the Violent Art Facebook page.
Violent Obsession runs just over 30-minutes and is a nonstop vision of torment and gore. It is a simple idea intent on delivering maximum impact on your senses. Unlike the work with P.S.Y.C.H.O Productions, Zeglarski does not rely on scenes of humour here so abandon all hope ye who enter.
The intro to Violent Obsession talks about how humans are spit out upon this earth with no inkling of why or for what purpose. It’s said we have no understanding of enjoyment unless there is suffering. We cannot have the good times without going through bad times. In this case Violent Art/P.S.Y.C.H.O Productions regular collaborator Jim Aal stars in the lead role. Jim wanders aimlessly through the dark misty woods. Is it a dream? Is it a nightmare? Or is he trapped in his own subconscious terror?
Jim journeys on through the murky darkness as he witnesses flashbacks of merciless unbridled torture and bodily destruction. Scenes of chainsawed genitalia, electric drills piercing through teeth and flesh, sharp objects penetrating skin, evisceration, and much more. Violent Obsession showcases an endless array of the worst possibilities of human life being snuffed out.
There is also temptation and lust as naked female figures silhouette the darkness. In one instance a musical interlude is concocted in an erotic display. The purpose of Violent Obsession is clear: to shock and terrorize while adding a touch of dark philosophy to stimulate the mind. There is also a bit of a twist ending which can be spotted as the film moves along and the realization is made.
Fans of trippy gore films rejoice and unite your hordes as Sebastian Zeglarski bludgeons your senses and morals with an uncompromising exercise in gory brutality and mind warping madness with Violent Obsession.
