Sex and Sadism in 4K: ‘Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS’ Gets a Savage 4K UHD Upgrade from Kino Lorber
Nazisploitation fans and sleaze cinema devotees brace yourselves. Kino Lorber has officially announced the 4K UHD release of the notorious 1975 shocker Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS, set to drop on September 30, 2025. Priced at $29.89 (MSRP $44.95), this long-awaited upgrade brings Don Edmonds’s infamous piece of celluloid depravity screaming into the modern age in glorious ultra high definition.
Shot in Canada and starring the unforgettable Dyanne Thorne as the monstrous Ilsa, the film is a brutal concoction of eroticism, horror, war-time exploitation, and medical sadism. Ilsa commands a Nazi medical camp where men are used for pleasure and women for torture, all under the guise of twisted experiments and carnal dominance. It’s the film that outraged critics, with Gene Siskel famously calling it “the most degenerate picture I have seen… a textbook for rapists and mutilation freaks” and yet became a grindhouse smash, spawning three sequels and inspiring a legion of imitators.
The 4K UHD disc is loaded with extras, including:
- A legacy audio commentary featuring Thorne, director Don Edmonds, and legendary sleaze producer David F. Friedman, moderated by Martin Lewis.
- A new commentary from cult cinema experts Kat Ellinger and Evgueni Mlodik, known for their deep dives into exploitation history.
- She Wolf of the SS, an interview with Edmonds by Elijah Drenner
- The original theatrical trailer
- A stills gallery to soak in all the depravity frame by frame
The supporting cast includes Gregory Knoph, Tony Mumolo, and Maria Marx, though it’s Thorne’s sinister charisma that forever burned this film into the annals of cult history.
Originally shot for dirt-cheap on the Hogan’s Heroes set, Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS is pure grindhouse gold. It’s a film that wears its controversy like a badge of honor and refuses to be forgotten. Now, with Kino Lorber’s meticulous remastering, it’s time to revisit the celluloid gutters and experience the shock and sleaze all over again… in 4K clarity.
